J: Hi Gabriel, how is your winter break?
G: That’s so terrific; I went to Los Angeles Disneyland.
J: That’s awesome! It sounds that you like traveling very much.
G: Yes, I do like it. I have been to many places in China and America, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chicago, and Los Angeles. What about you?
J: I also like traveling a lot like New York City, Boston, Tokyo, and so on.
G: What’s your favorite place?
J: That must be Boston. I love it so much. I traveled to Boston with my friends last year. Boston has a wonderful ocean view, I mean the sky there is so blue and the beach is always full of sunshine. You know how romantic it can ever be, just relax yourself on the beach, when the sun is setting down, when the ocean breeze is blowing and the seabirds are singing. And there are many beautiful cottages are located at seaside.
G: What beautiful scenery! What some activities did you have there?
J: After walking along the seaside, my friends and I went to some small seafood restaurants. My friend told me that lobster in there is very special and delicious. I tried and I thought that I have never eaten seafood as good as those restaurants. Now, I even remembered the seafood of that restaurant sometimes.
G: Don’t just talk about food. What some other activities did you do there? Because I know there are many famous universities in Boston, did you travel around the campus?
J: Yeah, of course we went to there. I had made a detailed plan for visiting campus before doing that. We went to Harvard University and visited the libraries, and museums, to learn the history of the university. Anyway, after that, we bought some gifts, like t-shirt, pen, and we also gave them to my friends as gifts.
G: You remind me that once I travelled to Chengde, which also had very beautiful sceneries.
J: What’s that famous for?
G: The place is called “The Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples, Chengde”, which is on the World Heritage List. The resort was built from 1703 to 1792, which used to be the summer residence of the Qing emperors. The whole complex consists of imperial palaces, imperial gardens, and magnificent temples, and it is the largest classical imperial garden.
J: It sounds like a great place for recreation!
G: Yeah, you are right! The basic style of the whole garden is simple and relaxing, which mainly takes the natural factors and reflect the features of landscapes from both north and south of China. You can see there are many lakes, ranches, and forest distributed consistently in the garden. I also saw much stuff that emperors once used.
J: Did you have fun there?
G: Of course. At noon, I took a small boat floating along the river which was considered the shortest river. You know, China has a long history and we could learn a lot during the traveling. Many places have not only a high level of art treasure, but also a high historical value. In a word, China has many greatest places to learn and enjoy.
J: I believe you really enjoyed that place. Do you have some plans for your next travel?
G: I’d like to go to New York City because I heard it’s especially beautiful in summer, and the Emperor building is great. Do you recommend some places for me?
J: I think you should go to the New York City, That’s a good place. I traveled there before; it gave me a lot of good memory. You can visit the Broadway and go shopping in the Soho, You can also walk around in the central park. Anyway, I also want to go there this summer for another time. Could I join you?
G: Sure. We can go there together and have fun. That sounds great. I will talk with you later.
J: Good idea. Thanks.
